Together we create value every day. Description of Work Tasks As a librarian in Åstorp, you will collaborate with driven and engaged educators and librarians. Your work will focus on reading promotion initiatives and language development. Your assignment includes everything from media procurement and book discussions to support for students who need compensatory measures in their reading development. You are also expected to be able to contribute to work with ICT/MIK. You will work as a school librarian at the municipality's two secondary schools, Björnekulla and Hyllinge. Hyllinge school library is an integrated school and public library, so you collaborate with public library staff. At Björnekulla you also have a library assistant as a colleague, and at Hyllinge you work with the school librarian who works with grades F-6. We operate based on the adopted library plan 2025-2028, as well as the school library plan 2025-2028, where the function and pedagogical resources of school libraries have been strengthened through distribution of responsibilities between the two governing bodies. You will work together with other school and public librarians and educators in the school to develop and shape the operations. More general librarian tasks may occasionally land on your desk, and we expect you to master all the librarian's tools, methods, and competencies. Work at the libraries is based on systematic quality and development work, and we expect you to see the importance of being involved in this. Work at the municipality's public library may occur, as well as evening and weekend work. Åstorp's library operations also include a book bus through which we primarily reach children and young people in the municipality. Qualifications You have solid knowledge of literature mediation and reading promotion, you are pedagogical and work with clear student focus. Your own drive is strong, but you enjoy collaborating with others. Your passionate commitment to children's and youth literature and reading you convey in an inspiring and enjoyable way. You are confident in the school librarian role and are open to the possibilities of digitalization in pedagogical work. In your work you are positive and engaged, and you feel comfortable communicating both verbally and in writing. Good knowledge of Swedish both verbally and in writing is required, and other language skills are meriting. As a person, you see possibilities for change and create situations where new ideas and suggestions can develop. Collaborating with others comes naturally to you, and by creating understanding for others, you work toward a respectful work climate. You have the ability to maintain a holistic perspective in your work and can place your own area of responsibility in a larger context. You must have good communication skills and be responsible and solution-focused. At the same time, you need the ability to take initiative and independently develop and advance ideas for our entire operational area. It is important that you have good interpersonal skills, are flexible, and service-minded. We require that you have a degree in library and information science, or equivalent university education that we consider equivalent. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities. We are primarily seeking someone with experience working in school libraries, preferably at secondary level. A driver's license is required and access to your own car facilitates your workday. Åstorp Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting, taking into account the employee's experience, competence, and prevailing market conditions. An annual salary review is conducted where employees are salary-set based on our salary criteria: clarity, courage, responsiveness, engagement, and quality.
