Job Description Working as a nurse within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is one of the most multifaceted assignments you can have. In our operations, you are the first medical point of contact: here you meet patients with complex needs where somatic conditions, psychiatry, and substance abuse issues are often intertwined. This means that you don't just treat individual symptoms, but see the whole person in an environment that requires both medical precision and human maturity. You make independent assessments of everything from acute infections to complex psychiatric conditions. Your expertise determines when a patient needs to be referred to our team of doctors, psychologists, or physiotherapists. You are responsible for administration and management of medications, both through dose dispensing and the preparation of pre-packaged medication doses. Medication management is a substantial part of the weekly work. You and your colleagues are largely responsible for running the healthcare operations. This includes ordering supplies, sterilizing instruments, and handling test samples that need to be sent for analysis. You have a central and responsible role in the healthcare logistics chain, where through careful administration and medical coordination you create security for the patient based on healthcare standards and the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's requirements. Qualifications Since the role involves significant independent responsibility and requires the ability to prioritize in the moment, we are seeking someone who is confident in their professional role. We are looking for someone with clinical experience where you have worked for at least a couple of years and feel comfortable working independently and making your own assessments and prioritizations of patient care needs in situations where conditions can change rapidly. You need to be calm and stable with the personal maturity required to work in a secure environment and can maintain composure and professionalism in all interactions. You are attentive and skilled at collaboration and building trust while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
