Ward 14 has 18 beds where kidney patients are the largest group. In addition to this patient category, we also care for patients in rheumatology and diabetes/endocrinology. In your role as a nurse, you are responsible for patient care and carry out and follow up on medical orders. You collaborate around the patient together with competent colleagues from various professions with the aim of providing good and safe care. On the kidney unit, you will be part of a team with job satisfaction and the patient in focus. In addition to nurses, the team consists of doctors, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and dietitians. Your future workplace The kidney unit consists of a ward, kidney outpatient clinic, and dialysis unit. The kidney outpatient clinic treats approximately 800 patients, primarily with diagnoses of kidney failure and kidney transplantation. The dialysis unit currently has over one hundred patients receiving dialysis treatment through peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis. Many of our patients manage their own treatment, so-called self-dialysis. Hemodialysis operations are in Kalmar and Oskarshamn. Region Hospital Kalmar is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County.
