Your Workplace The Laro Clinic is one of the outpatient psychiatric care units. Here, dedicated nurses, doctors, social workers, care and support coordinators, healthcare administrators, and unit managers work together to provide quality care and a good work environment. The medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependence (LARO) has the mission to assess and treat people in Värmland County who have more than one year of documented opioid dependence, as well as to provide consultative services. The clinic is located in the Psychiatric Building at Central Hospital in Karlstad. The Laro Clinic is a well-functioning unit with competent staff who are passionate about the mission. We are in an interesting position within Region Värmland regarding addiction care, particularly in light of the recommendations from the comorbidity investigation. National efforts are in an expansion phase, and LARO treatment is included in the comorbidity investigation's interim report as a prioritized treatment approach. The position is offered until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. Your Responsibilities As a psychiatric nurse or registered nurse at the Laro Clinic, you are responsible for your patients and plan your day based on patient and operational needs. We work in teams and help each other when needed. Duties include medication distribution, medication monitoring, blood sampling, and therapeutic conversations with patients. Contact with healthcare partners and social services are also part of the responsibilities. Collaboration with other actors is a central part of working with our patients, including collaboration with open psychiatric clinics in the county, infectious disease clinics, and addiction centers. You will be involved in the entire care process for patients, starting with blood sampling and initiation of substitution medication. Patients should come daily at the beginning of treatment to receive their medication. An individual assessment is then made regarding how often patients should visit the clinic. Our work follows the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines and is based on the nationally developed care and treatment program for harmful use and dependence. Your Knowledge and Competencies We are looking for someone with nursing education or who is trained as a psychiatric nurse. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and are looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with others and has an easy time building good relationships thanks to your empathetic abilities. You are skilled at organizing your work efficiently, can work independently, and adapt easily to different situations. Your flexibility and ability to switch between tasks make you a valuable team member. You are skilled at organizing and prioritizing your work effectively.
