Perhaps you're newly trained or a student? Then we think you should keep reading! It's difficult for me to summarize the role of my personal assistant and everything it entails. This is because personal assistance is personalized and based on individual circumstances and needs. At the same time, my life is as multifaceted as yours when it comes to feelings, interests, and activities. To give you some clues, my interests vary depending on the season. I enjoy everything from swimming in my pool, cooking & running with my Marathon wheelchair to museums, concerts, and the gym to give you some examples. Although it's difficult to summarize, here's an explanation of who I'm looking for… A role as a personal assistant is varied, but with me you can think that your role broadly builds on these three parts; 1. You help me with all basic needs with great sensitivity to dignity and respect. 2. You are my physical support, which means it's an advantage if you yourself care about your health and enjoy exercising in your spare time. 3. You are my motor in everyday life and have responsibility together with me and your colleague to plan activities and follow routines. These three parts of your professional role should be characterized by you being kind, empathetic, and communicative because that's how collaboration works best. I'm about 25 years old, my team is young, everyone is approximately 20–30 years old. I want to live as active and social a life as possible, and even though I can't run on my own legs, I roll forward in the races I participate in. It's important that you are active and share my interests. I want to live as active a life as possible given my life situation! My life can be described as a roller coaster—some days I have a lot of energy, other days I greatly need rest and recreation. My epilepsy is complex and you'll learn everything you need to know during your introduction; it's not a requirement but it's a merit if you have experience with personal assistance. However, you need to have a good understanding of what your professional role entails. Flexibility is important to be able to adapt the days based on current needs. My assistants always come well-rested, patient, and give of themselves regardless of what circumstances or challenges I face in everyday life. I'm looking for someone who thinks the same way and doesn't see me as your patient. I require high work ethics, which for you as an applicant means you are reliable and treat me, your colleagues, and your profession with respect. You are also calm and understand that your contribution is vital to me; understanding of relationship-building and variation in my life creates the best conditions for both of us. Personal assistance means living a meaningful life with self-determination, which you contribute to through interaction. The role of personal assistant means helping another person live their life, which includes being able to leave your own feelings and opinions outside of work, being interested in learning new ways of communicating, and at the same time understanding that I, just like you, have emotions that vary. I want you to be equally committed regardless of what I want to do or need. Feel free to share your interests and join in on my positivity and happiness! We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Developing a relationship doesn't happen overnight, so I'm looking for someone who really wants to do the best for me by getting to know me and understands that long-term commitment is the key to success. Previous experience is not a requirement, although it's certainly a merit; regardless, understanding of the professional role is what matters most. Being able to work in a structured and organized manner is essential to create security and predictability for me, plus I value someone who is initiative-taking and can work creatively and motivatingly together with me. Below are some practical conditions for the position: · Start date by agreement in June! You'll begin with an introductory schedule and then be offered your own schedule. I have approved assistance around the clock, you never work 24-hour shifts but it's important to know that you're awake during the night. You have a good understanding and insight into what it means to reverse your sleep schedule and be able to sleep during the day, so you come refreshed and rested to me regardless of your working hours. If you don't have previous experience with night work, you're of course also welcome to apply, just remember that a night job doesn't mean your day becomes 24 hours. · Work shifts with me can be full days 08.00-20.00, mornings 5–7 hours and afternoons 5–6 hours. Awake night shifts are 12 hours, 20.00-08.00. Some time changes occur during the summer period June 1–August 31. After summer, the employment percentage may change. · The introduction always starts with day shifts with me. This way we get to know each other properly and you learn as much as possible about my life. It's also nice and important that you get to know my other friends (assistants) so we can all work well together. · Any preferences I want you to specify in your application, such as vacation requests during summer—we have a summer schedule June 1 to August 31. During this period the schedule may be somewhat different. · Unfortunately, I cannot employ people with pet allergies or tobacco users (including substitutes like snus and e-cigarettes). · Fluent Swedish in both speech and writing is a requirement, as is swimming ability.
