Vännäs is a growing municipality 30 kilometers from Umeå with a large proportion of children and young people. At Vännäs Culture School, approximately 200 students in grades 4-9 receive instruction in various instruments and voice. Starting this fall, we will also expand our offerings with theater/drama groups. Instruction takes place both individually and in various groups in the culture school's own facilities as well as at our schools. Currently, six music teachers work at the culture school, and starting this fall, two drama pedagogues will join. We will also be launching remote instruction this fall through the interregional Nova K project, which provides distance learning for students living in other municipalities in Västerbotten. We are now seeking a music teacher with string instruments as the primary focus (cello or violin), preferably with additional competencies in other instrument groups or related subjects, and who is also interested in remote instruction. Duties String instruction typically occurs in 20-minute lessons, individually or in groups, and mainly during students' school hours. You will independently schedule, plan, and conduct your instruction. The position also includes leading string ensemble/string orchestra. The role may involve some evening and weekend work. Qualifications You have a music pedagogy degree from higher education or equivalent. We appreciate candidates with breadth in various musical styles. You have experience teaching music to children and young people, both individually and in groups. You enjoy working together with others and have experience organizing concerts and events. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Terms Extent: 15-40% Starting salary for a qualified Culture School teacher with little or no work experience is 34,000 kr/full-time.
