Support Worker for New Youth Residential Home
Description:
Welcome to a small, strength-based community with great opportunities! Here you have the chance to contribute important community services, alongside your colleagues, to those we serve. We operate from a health promotion perspective and use a strength-based approach that focuses on people's and the organization's strengths. This is also what we communicate and provide feedback on. You will receive sustainable working conditions, opportunities to grow, and contribute to collegial learning. We are guided by development, pride, and compassion, and we expect the same from you. About the Organization We are seeking three full-time employees (100%) for a newly established youth residential home in Hyltebruk. The facility is a residential home for children and youth according to LSS (housing with special services for children and youth, LSS 9 § 8) and is designed for children and youth with disabilities who, despite other support measures, cannot remain at home. The residence is unique in that it is currently designed for only one young person, unlike traditional group homes where multiple residents live together. The young person lives in their own apartment with staff available as needed. Working hours are scheduled for afternoons and overnight shifts on weekdays, and 24/7 during weekends. A short-term goal is to prepare and enable the young person to begin adapted upper secondary school in the fall. The long-term goal is to create sustainable conditions for the young person to complete their adapted upper secondary education according to their own circumstances. Working hours will therefore be adjusted to times when the young person is not in school. For extra security, staff from a nearby residential service facility are available 24/7 for support and guidance as needed. Job Responsibilities As a support assistant or support educator, your task is to provide the young person with security, continuity, and professional support tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. You will support and motivate the young person in their daily life to create opportunities for increased independence and participation. Responsibilities include, among other things, assistance with certain ADL activities, everyday household tasks, and accompaniment to and from leisure activities, healthcare appointments, and other important contexts. The role requires knowledge of disabilities and a good understanding of how environment, interactions, and structure affect the young person's daily life. You work with low-stress communication and clear pedagogy, and are expected to be attentive, observant, and flexible, as tasks are not always predictable in detail. An important part of the role is actively participating in leisure activities based on the young person's needs, which requires good physical fitness and a preference for active work. Qualifications To thrive and succeed in this role, you need to be a confident, responsible, and dedicated person who sees relationships and interactions as central to the work. You have a professional approach and the ability to adapt your support based on the young person's daily condition and needs. As long as you meet the basic requirements for the position, we will place great emphasis on your personal suitability, as we primarily seek the right person for the right role. Requirements for the position: • Relevant upper secondary education, for example in healthcare and care or children and leisure • Knowledge of and experience with low-stress communication • Knowledge of clear pedagogy • Knowledge of disabilities and understanding of how environment and surroundings affect the individual • Good physical fitness to participate in daily activities and leisure activities • It is highly meritorious to have a KY/YH education as a support educator Other Information Selection and interviews may take place continuously during the application period. In this recruitment process, you apply only with your CV. We use competence-based recruitment with the help of practical work samples as a selection method to ensure a fair and accurate recruitment process. If you become a candidate for the position, you will need to provide a police extract (the category for verification of personal information). The extract must be submitted to the recruiting unit manager in an unopened envelope. Application Log in/create a user account first before completing your application.
