Öckerö Maritime Center is Sweden's leading provider of high-quality maritime education according to STCW Manila. ÖMC operates as a non-profit organization and aims to be a resource for the maritime industry. As part of this mission, ÖMC has collaborated with Öckerö Municipality for 25 years to educate future seafarers at Öckerö Sailing Upper Secondary School. Historically, the center trained Sweden's fishermen, but now focuses on Maritime and Marine Technology Education. About the Position We are now seeking individuals with pedagogical skills to teach our engine courses within maritime education. While formal teacher training is not required, we appreciate pedagogical experience of any kind. We are looking for someone with genuine interest, competence, and the ability to guide our students in both theory and practice on their journey to becoming future watch-keeping engine crew. We are seeking teachers for one or more of the courses listed below, with extra focus on the first three: Engine Service 1 Engine Service 2 Chief Engineer Basic Welding Electrical Technology Scope For the right candidate, there is an opportunity for a permanent position beginning with a probationary period. The position can also be offered as hourly employment, where the selection of courses in which you can offer your services determines the extent. Responsibilities Working with the education coordinator to develop study materials, plan and deliver instruction on the engine side of maritime education and connect theoretical components with practical training conducted aboard various vessels in the commercial fleet (practical experience). Qualifications You have experience working in the engine department aboard a ship and a genuine interest in sharing knowledge and inspiring students in their development toward a career as watch-keeping engine crew and senior engine crew. Your work style is characterized by creativity, flexibility, and thoroughness. You have very good computer, phone, and tablet skills and are proficient in Microsoft Office 365. You have excellent Swedish language skills and speak and write English fluently. You hold a B-category driver's license. Meritorious Possession of vocational teacher or teacher training.
