Job Responsibilities As a speech-language pathologist, you will assess and treat adult patients who, due to illness or injury, have speech, voice, communication, and/or swallowing difficulties. The work tasks are varied and involve work in inpatient care, outpatient care, and possible home visits. You will be part of a team of three speech-language pathologists and will primarily perform your duties in Köping but, if needed, also at the hospital in Fagersta. We work with general medical departments with round-the-clock operations (heart and lung diseases as well as gastrointestinal and liver diseases, as well as kidney and blood diseases), an acute care unit, and an acute stroke unit, as well as rehabilitation departments with a focus on stroke, orthopedics, and geriatrics. We also work in an external stroke team. The Rehabilitation Unit also serves various clinics, including dialysis and advanced home care (AH). We also provide outpatient rehabilitation in teams for people with stroke and other acquired brain injuries. As a speech-language pathologist, you also receive referrals from primary care. About the Workplace At our facility, you are welcomed to a workplace with a family-friendly and open work environment. The clinic in Köping has an urgent care facility with an acute care unit and three care wards. There is also a dialysis clinic, a medical clinic with day medicine, advanced home care, and the rehabilitation unit. The unit currently has three speech-language pathology positions. The Rehabilitation Unit also employs physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, dietitians, nursing assistants, discharge coordinators, and nurses. Fagersta Hospital has a care ward, a medical clinic, a mobile urgent care team/AH, and a rehabilitation unit. Västmanlands Hospital in Köping is highly skilled in stroke care and ranks at the top in the national comparison. Köping Hospital has received awards from Riksstroke several times, both as stroke unit of the year and for excellent stroke care. The hospital is very close to the train station, within a three-minute walk. Commute options to Köping are excellent. Trains: Örebro – Köping 33 min, Västerås – Köping 17 minutes, Eskilstuna – Köping 54 minutes. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a licensed speech-language pathologist. We would appreciate it if you are positive about being part of developing FUS (fiberendoscopic evaluation of swallowing), which is planned within the operation. If you have worked in inpatient/outpatient care and have worked in the Cosmic journal system, we consider it a merit. A driver's license (Class B) is a requirement. You have the ability to make your own decisions and can work independently as well as in a team. Since the work and conditions vary, you must be flexible and able to adapt to new circumstances. Your ability to work with other people is good and you listen and communicate in a constructive manner. Terms of Employment Permanent full-time position. Start date by agreement.
