Södermalmsskolan's upper secondary section is now looking for you for the position of Reading Instruction Teacher. Södermalmsskolan is centrally located in Kristinehamn and has approximately 850 students from preschool through grade 9. The facilities and schoolyard are divided into sections for grades F-3, 4-6, and 7-9, where each level has its own naturally defined area with space for play and creativity. The School Administration's area of responsibility includes services for children from one year old through upper secondary education. The activities include open preschool, preschool, primary school, adapted primary school, after-school care, upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, as well as cultural school and youth centers. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This position focuses primarily on reading instruction with students who need foundational training in reading and reading comprehension. You will monitor students' progress using screening, measurement instruments, and analyze results in collaboration with teaching teachers and special educators. You are expected to teach students both individually and in groups and help strengthen students' motivation to develop their reading, writing, and language skills. You will evaluate reading instruction for students based on their needs and maintain ongoing dialogue with teaching teachers and special educators regarding students' reading development, particularly those at foundational levels. Continuously documenting students' progress in their learning is also part of the role. You will be part of a teaching team where you share experiences, expertise, ideas, and work satisfaction. Collaboration with students, guardians, and colleagues is an important part of the assignment. Together with other educators in the team, you take responsibility for developing the activities with the goal of giving each student the best possible conditions for development and learning. The position may include reading instruction with students at the Summer School. This position is a vacation-fill role for 40 hours/week. QUALIFICATIONS We look forward to your application and welcome you if you have the following: • Teaching certification • Eligibility to teach grades 4-6 or grades 1-7 in Swedish/SVA • Training in reading instruction • Previous experience with reading instruction and reading development • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, as language is our primary tool. We consider it an advantage if you have experience teaching Swedish/SVA at the upper secondary level and a special education degree with a focus on Swedish/SVA. To succeed in this role, it is important that you take great personal responsibility, have the ability to maintain good structure, and can focus on the right things in stressful situations. You work well collaboratively and communicate in a calm and pedagogical manner when interacting with students, guardians, and colleagues. We also see that you are social, outgoing, and work to create motivation in students who struggle to find their own drive at school. Your creativity can be an important key here.
