Teacher in After-School Program, Kiaby School
Description:
1 position(s). At Kiaby School, we have approximately 66 students distributed in age-heterogeneous classes from preschool through 6th grade. The school is situated idyllically in the middle of the village with proximity to forest and lake. Our schoolyard offers plenty of opportunities for play and activities including a creative workshop, soccer field, arena, sandboxes, and a "forest" area, to name a few. At Kiaby School, you thrive like we do by working with a solution-focused approach, joy in meeting children and adults, and commitment to student and program development. You proceed from the belief that all students do their best and that with the right support they can go very far. It is equally important for you as it is for us to work for tolerance and understanding of differences, as well as respect for everyone's equal worth. We have two after-school departments with approximately 40 enrolled students and are altogether about 10 educators who work together on school and after-school activities. New for school year 26/27 is a small, specialized teaching group where students in need of instruction in a small group can receive support from teachers in a special education team, after-school teachers, and a special education specialist. We have close cooperation with Fjälkinge School, where our students have their lessons in physical education, woodwork, home economics, and language electives. We also collaborate with Fjälkinge School's after-school program during school breaks. Since it can be difficult to coordinate work hours with access to public transportation to and from Kiaby, it is an advantage if you can ensure that you can get to work without being dependent on local transit. We look forward to your application! Your relationships with students are characterized by mutual respect, cooperation, trusting approach, and positive expectations. You dare to set demands on students and are clear about the expectations that are set. Documentation of after-school program activities is also included. Furthermore, you are active in collegial learning and systematically reflect on your work individually and together with others, connected to the program's objectives and influences from the external environment. Who Are We Looking For? You who are applying have teaching certification with authorization to conduct instruction in after-school programs in primary school, and we would like you to have authorization for grades 1-6 in one of the subjects woodwork, music, and/or physical education in primary school within the scope of your certification. You are well-versed in and live up to the professional ethical principles for teachers and have the ability to promote democratic values and proceed from the belief that all children/students are equally worthy. Furthermore, you manage leadership in the after-school program/classroom and work with goal-oriented management, planning, and documentation. You have the ability to inspire enthusiasm, create interest, and meet children at their level. The ability to choose pedagogical tools based on the individual's needs is required in this work.
