Job Description Do you want to help build up a school operation in newly built school facilities? Now you have the chance to influence students' futures and education in a creative and enabling school environment. SiS youth home Långanäs is seeking a teacher of English in combination with other subjects; music is preferred. The school operation within SiS follows the same regulations as the rest of the school system. The school is responsible for the education of all enrolled youth. The young people staying at the youth home should receive the education they need and are entitled to. The placed youth are between 16-20 years old. Almost all teaching takes place within the framework of an introductory program; individual alternative, but there may also be compulsory school students as well as students within adapted school. All students have an individual study plan where they, together with a mentor and study and career counselor, set goals and study basic school and/or upper secondary common subjects based on their needs. Teaching is conducted full-time in smaller teaching groups. It is important to have a positive attitude and a belief in each individual's development potential. Students have varying experiences and results from previous schooling, which means that teaching needs to be based on good pedagogical relationships, be motivating, and be conducted in accordance with the knowledge assignment. You plan, implement, follow up, and document teaching and are well-anchored in all parts of the curriculum and in grading. Mentoring may be part of the position. The institution has several complementary competencies, and as a teacher you are part of an interdisciplinary and collaborative effort around the young people. Cooperation with, for example, nurses, treatment pedagogues, and psychologists, etc. is therefore an important part of your work tasks. Many of us work with care and together have a holistic perspective regarding the young people. Qualifications Certified teacher of English in combination with other subjects, preferably music for the later years of primary school and/or upper secondary school You have the ability to plan, teach, and follow up on your teaching. You have experience in pedagogical work in a school environment. Meritorious qualifications include: Having broad subject competence and complementary subjects Documented special education knowledge; insight into various diagnoses, experience working with youth in need of special support and institutional care. Previous work within introductory programs or work in special teaching groups. Mastery of multiple languages. You need to be drawn to teaching and building trusting pedagogical relationships in smaller teaching groups consisting of students with psychosocial issues and involved in crime. It is important that you can identify and meet the student's needs with high realistic expectations and motivate and guide the student toward their goals. We would appreciate if you are calm in pressured situations, unpretentious, flexible, can set and maintain boundaries in a respectful way, and have confidence that all students can find a path to education and work. You have good collaboration skills, high social competence, a positive view of students, and are resourceful. You also understand the importance of adapting to changed circumstances and see the benefits of changes. You participate in development work to achieve the school's goals and always take responsibility for your work tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work in an efficient manner. The work requires that you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing and that you think about adapting your communication depending on your audience. The position is a temporary holiday substitute position with statutory vacation, which means a 40-hour work week. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
