Description Säffle Cultural School has 11 dedicated employees who work within various collaborative areas and are passionate about both their subject and the cultural school as a whole. We offer courses in music, dance, and visual arts and design. The cultural school's facilities are centrally located where all teachers have their own teaching rooms. We have a rehearsal hall for practice and concerts, and we also have access to Medis's large stage where Säffle Opera is normally housed. We also conduct teaching in the municipality's outlying areas. Teaching is conducted primarily in the afternoons and evenings. Some daytime instruction does occur. Job Responsibilities You have primary responsibility for teaching violin and viola, and in some cases cello. You teach both group and individual lessons, adapted to individual circumstances, level, and age. We believe it is important to contribute to and develop orchestra activities, both string ensembles and within folk music. We would like you to have a broad range of skills, both in instrumental technique and in different genres. Ensemble playing is an integral part of the pedagogical progression that students experience, and you will help build this. You lead and participate as a performing teacher in both ensembles and orchestras, and participate in the cultural school's joint concerts, productions, and shows. During the school year, a string project takes place during daytime hours and is directed at grade 2 students. Welcome to a very outward-facing and driven cultural school with many opportunities. Qualifications We are seeking someone who: Has a music education degree from university or equivalent vocational training that the employer deems equivalent. Has strong pedagogical skills and experience teaching children and young people. You have strong ability to teach groups and are curious about trying out new pedagogical ideas around this. Possesses strong instrumental technical skills and broad genre knowledge, and has experience leading larger ensemble groups and various types of ensembles. You need to have a strong ability to collaborate with other music teachers and demonstrated willingness to do the work this entails.
