Communications Officer (Maternity Leave Replacement)

One of our communications officers is on parental leave, and we are now seeking a temporary replacement to strengthen our team from August through January 2027. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of developing a communicative organization where openness, accessibility, and coordination are in focus. Through professional service and clear communication, we work to strengthen public trust in the municipality and contribute to a strong and sustainable brand. Your Role With us, you will be one of four communications officers in a team where everyone is a generalist. This means you will work with all aspects of the communications role, both strategically and operatively. You will lead and support operations in planning communication initiatives and produce content for the municipality's various target groups. The goal is to create the best possible service and communication for our employees, residents, and visitors. You will plan, implement, and follow up on communication initiatives across the municipality's various channels. The work includes social media, website, intranet, the municipal magazine Axet, as well as photography and video. When needed, you will project manage communication assignments and provide support on communication matters. A particular responsibility is to support the Education Sector in their communication work and oversee the development of the municipality's website, vara.se, and intranet based on operations' and users' needs. Your Knowledge and Experience We are looking for someone with a degree in media and communication studies or equivalent that the employer deems relevant for the assignment. We would prefer that you have worked as a communications officer or similar for a few years and are experienced in driving and coordinating various types of communication assignments. However, you can also be relatively new to the profession. You stay updated within the communications field and are open to trying new ways of working. As a person, you are social with excellent collaboration skills. You are responsive and have an easy time understanding operations' needs, building relationships, and creating trust with others. You are independent, structured, and have strong abilities to plan and prioritize your work efficiently. You are comfortable working toward set goals, focusing on results, and driving processes. You express yourself well both verbally and in writing. You have a sense of graphic design and good knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. It is an advantage if you are familiar with the Sitevision publishing tool. Your Future Workplace The Communications Unit consists of 12 people distributed among communications officers, municipal advisors, digitalization developers, and a communications manager. The department is part of the Management Sector, which is the municipal council's administration.
