Härnösands pastorat is seeking an associate pastor for Säbrå and Häggdånger – with a special mission as a military chaplain with the Västernorrland Group in Härnösand. This is a position for you if you want to serve as a priest across the full scope of the calling: in worship services, in meeting people at different stages of life, in parish council work, and in conversations about faith, responsibility, ethics, and human dignity. You will be a present priest in two congregations with strong local roots while also serving as a pastoral care resource in the Swedish Armed Forces environment. We are looking for someone who is secure in your priestly identity, grounded in theology, and genuinely interested in people. You listen with warmth, build trust, and can address both everyday questions and life's deepest matters. The role as congregational pastor As an associate pastor in Säbrå and Häggdånger, you will have a broad and meaningful assignment. You lead and develop worship life, officiate at church ceremonies throughout the pastorat, and serve as a clerical member of the parish councils. You work closely with parish councils, volunteers, and colleagues to strengthen and shape congregational life. Your work is shaped by the encounter between the congregations' needs and your own gifts and experience. The role as military chaplain As a military chaplain with the Västernorrland Group, you will be a present pastoral care provider in the Swedish Armed Forces' daily operations. You offer conversation, support, and ethical reflection for personnel who carry significant responsibility and sometimes work under pressure. The mission is about creating security, contributing to reflection, and being a steady voice in matters of responsibility, worldview, and meaning. You participate in exercises and gatherings, are available for individual conversations, and collaborate with the Swedish Armed Forces based on the church's pastoral care mission. Here you get to be a priest for people regardless of faith, background, or worldview. Special introduction or training may be relevant, and the role may require security clearance.
