Description The Food Service Unit in Ljusdals Municipality is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals to children, students, and seniors, as well as the production of chilled meal boxes for customers in ordinary housing. The operations include a shared administration and several kitchen facilities throughout the municipality. The goal is to prepare as much as possible from scratch and continuously increase the proportion of organic and locally sourced ingredients. Job Responsibilities We are seeking an engaged cook for Los Preschool. The work includes meal preparation, preparation of special diets and adapted meals, preparation of raw vegetables, serving, dishwashing, and kitchen cleaning. You work according to established goals and guidelines, follow the meal strategy and the Swedish Food Agency's recommendations, and promote sustainable practices with a focus on reducing food waste. You are responsible for the kitchen budget and ensure that operations are conducted within financial limits. An important part of the position is handling special diets and adapted meals with great care to ensure the safety and health of children and students. This requires excellent knowledge of Swedish, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to interpret and follow recipes and instructions. You also handle orders, check deliveries, and manage inventory. Your work day follows a schedule adapted to the preschool's needs. A pedagogical approach is central to your interaction with children to create a safe and positive meal environment. Qualifications You have training as a cook or education in restaurant and food programs, or equivalent education as assessed by the employer. Excellent Swedish language skills in speaking and writing are required, as is the ability to carefully read and understand recipes and other written instructions, especially for special diets and adapted meals. You have good computer skills and experience with administrative systems, preferably food cost systems such as Matilda. Experience from large kitchens and safety procedures is desirable. Personally, you are resourceful, responsible, and service-oriented with a strong focus on quality and care. You are also pedagogical and empathetic in your interactions with children to contribute to a safe and positive meal experience. Probationary employment may be applied.
