There are schools where 7 out of 10 students do not meet the requirements for upper secondary school. At the non-profit Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen, you contribute with your expertise and commitment to help more students achieve the necessary requirements with confidence for the future. We are now seeking new homework helpers in Sandviken! We're looking for someone interested in a paid part-time job and who wants to make a concrete social impact. The position is an hourly employment in afternoons/evenings and involves being a homework helper after school hours at one of our partner schools. Here you work as part of a team of three homework helpers, all of whom are university students. You will receive training in and work according to our structured methodology. Each homework help group consists of 15 students, and together with your colleagues, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on the work. As a homework helper, you can work either as a regular homework helper or as a substitute. As a regular homework helper, you work 6 hours per week spread across two scheduled afternoons/evenings (opportunities for extra substitute shifts are available). As a substitute, you work when regular homework helpers are on leave or sick. The work is performed after school hours in the school's facilities. We are looking for someone who: - Is a university or college student - Has pedagogical abilities and can communicate and build relationships with children and young people. - Is solution-oriented, takes initiative, and can work according to our structured methodology and approach. - Has broad basic subject competence and good study techniques. - Shares Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen's values and vision of a society where all children grow up with the conditions to succeed in school and shape their own future. Since the job involves working with children, we place great emphasis on personal suitability. Providing an extract from the Police's criminal records register to the employer is a legal requirement to work with children and young people. The differences between schools, where you live, where you come from, and what your parents do increasingly determine your likelihood of succeeding in school. Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen is a non-profit foundation that operates where it is needed most. Homework help is free for students, and homework helpers' salaries are financed through support from the business sector and public sector. Homework help is a concrete initiative addressing one of Sweden's biggest problems today—an increasing number of young people are not succeeding in school and risk being excluded from society. Carefully selected, paid university students help young people with their studies two evenings per week and are also positive role models and mentors. Since our founding in 2007, we have developed a structured working method and a clear goal—grades should improve and students should progress to upper secondary school. Today we operate in over 90 schools in Stockholm, Södertälje, Västerås, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Landskrona, Umeå, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Gävle, and Malmö, among others.
