At the nonprofit Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen, you contribute with your expertise and commitment to help more students achieve the necessary qualifications with confidence for the future. We are now looking for new tutors in Gävle! We are seeking you if you are interested in a paid side job and at the same time want to make a concrete social contribution. The position is an hourly employment in afternoons/evenings and essentially involves being a tutor after school hours at one of our partner schools. At our organization, you work in a team of three tutors, all of whom are university students. You will receive training in and work according to our structured approach. Each tutoring group consists of 15 students, and together with your colleagues, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on the work. As a tutor, you can work either as a regular tutor or as a substitute. As a regular tutor, you work 6 hours per week spread over two scheduled afternoons/evenings (opportunity for extra substitute shifts available). As a substitute, you work when regular tutors are on leave or sick. The work is performed after school hours in the school's premises. We are looking for you who: - Are a university or college student - Have a pedagogical ability and can communicate and build relationships with children and young people. - Are solution-oriented, take initiative, and can work according to our structured approach and method. - Have broad foundational subject competence and good study techniques. - Share Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen's values and vision of a society where all children grow up with the conditions to succeed in school and shape their own future. Since the job involves working with children, we place great emphasis on personal suitability. Providing a certificate from the police's criminal record registry to the employer is a legal requirement for working with children and young people. The differences between schools, where you live, where you come from, and what your parents do increasingly determine how likely you are to succeed in school. Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen is a nonprofit foundation that operates where the need is greatest. Tutoring is free for students, and tutors' salaries are financed through support from the business and public sectors. Läxhjälpen is a concrete measure that addresses one of Sweden's biggest problems today—that more and more young people are not succeeding in school and risk being excluded from society. Carefully selected, paid university students help young people with their studies two evenings a week and are simultaneously positive role models and mentors. Since our founding in 2007, we have developed a structured approach and a clear goal—to improve grades and help students progress to upper secondary school. Today we operate in over 90 schools in, among others, Stockholm, Södertälje, Västerås, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Landskrona, Umeå, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Gävle, and Malmö.
