Knowledge, Well-being, and Safety Västerhaninge Montessori School Ugglan is a Montessori-inspired school run by a parent cooperative since 1996. Here, everyone knows each other – both children and adults – and we strive for a calm, respectful, and stimulating school environment where each child can grow at their own pace. At Ugglan, we work based on Maria Montessori's belief that children want to learn, can learn, and have an inherent desire to do so. Every child is unique and has the right to develop on their own terms. At Ugglan, children take responsibility for their learning by actively participating in planning and evaluation. Freedom to choose activities and the opportunity to work undisturbed at their own pace are two of the most important conditions in our pedagogy. This creates a focused work environment and makes learning more enjoyable. Ugglan is a small school with great focus on knowledge and safety. Our staff consists of educators who appreciate working together with students and guardians to create the best education. During shared activities, students interact across age groups, and we believe that through a strong sense of community and activities where all staff see all children, we help our students develop as much as possible based on their own conditions. Here, children get to be children a little longer. The atmosphere is family-like, and we all work together on students' knowledge development, social development, safety, and well-being. We are now looking for an Elementary Teacher for Grades K-3. You see, challenge, and support our students in their knowledge development to help them reach their full potential. You understand the importance of solid and early reading and writing instruction and use the learning environment as an important part of your pedagogical work. You will be part of a team that you work closely with, and you will have close collaboration with the school's other teachers and educators. We strive for all pedagogical staff to have shared study days where all employees are part of the collective quality work. Qualifications: - We are looking for someone with a teaching degree (elementary teacher for Grades K-3). - You have documented experience working with reading and writing instruction. Personal Qualities: - You are curious about Montessori pedagogy, and experience with this approach is a merit. - You are engaged, professional, initiative-taking, and a good team player. - You have good collaboration skills, clarity, and responsiveness in independent work, and can plan, organize, and carry out your tasks together with others. - You take responsibility for your work tasks; you plan, structure, and prioritize your work efficiently with good results. - You have the ability to motivate and communicate effectively. - You are responsive and have a good understanding of how people learn, and can adapt your way of conveying messages to the recipient. - You see possibilities in change and can adapt to changing circumstances. - You have good communication skills, both verbal and written. - Digital competence. Building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues comes naturally to you. You create a good learning environment based on modern Montessori pedagogy that is inspiring and enjoyable for students. You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team, while also being able to plan and work independently. You are passionate about contributing to others' learning and you create conditions for enjoyable learning to happen. You can balance different demands and remain calm in difficult situations. Other important qualities are the ability to create a good work climate, to have a low-pressure approach, and to appreciate working with people. Application deadline is July 31.
