Parish Deacon with Focus on Children, Youth and Family

Gottsunda Parish is located in a growing area of Uppsala and is part of Uppsala Pastoriate. The parish carries out a broad range of activities and collaborates with various community stakeholders in the local area. Services and devotions are held in two churches and a chapel. The parish also has a café, an open preschool, two of the pastoriate's full-time preschools, and a rich musical life. The parish has many committed staff members, of which 18 are employed. Deacon at Gottsunda Parish As one of the parish's deacons is changing positions, we are now seeking a successor. The starting point is to, in light of the Gospel's power, share people's faith and lives. The Role The assignment is to, in accordance with the Church of Sweden's faith and teachings and according to the parish instructions, plan, conduct and coordinate the parish's diaconal activities with a special focus on children, youth, family and confirmation candidates. - In collaboration, develop children's and families' place in worship - Meet children and families, among other things at the parish's open preschool, parish camps and in baptism follow-up - Uppsala Pastoriate's confirmation and youth work as well as family camps - Youth Arena in collaboration with the municipality - Intergenerational activities, everyday services, celebrations and parish gatherings - Develop the parish's school contacts - Pastoral conversations and spiritual care Qualifications You are an ordained deacon in the Church of Sweden and have the ability to both work in the immediate and everyday context while also thinking strategically and long-term. You have experience in parish work with children, youth and family in the Church of Sweden and are well familiar with its faith and tradition. Personal Qualities We are looking for someone who enjoys working independently and is also a team player. You are social, flexible and enjoy building relationships with people of different ages. You are open to people's differences and appreciate diversity. You have both a pedagogical and diaconal perspective and want to work to strengthen people in vulnerable situations.
