Welcome to us Bandhagens School is now seeking 1 experienced and skilled teaching assistant for our adapted primary school operations. This is a temporary position due to parental leave. The school has approximately 450 students and approximately 110 staff members. We accept students from preschool class through grade 6 in primary school. We also accept students from grades 1–6 in adapted primary school as well as preschool class students being prepared for adapted primary school. We have after-school programs for grades F–3 in primary school and F–6 in adapted primary school, and we offer youth clubs for grades 4–6 in primary school. Bandhagens School is located in an area that offers alternative working methods as we are close to natural areas and a petting zoo park. We offer Your role As a teaching assistant in our adapted primary school, you will support students throughout the school day and carry out various learning activities with the student according to guidance and instructions from teachers. The work involves being with students throughout the day, both during school hours and during after-school care time. You will collaborate with other teaching assistants, childcare workers, after-school teachers, teachers, student support teams, and other staff at the school. The work aims to help students develop, as much as possible and according to their own abilities, in accordance with the education's goals. Your competence and experience We are looking for you who have good experience working as a teaching assistant in adapted primary school, teaching assistant training, childcare worker training, 3-year upper secondary education in children and youth, preferably with a supplementary qualification for children with special needs (1.5 years), or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. You should have experience working in adapted primary school, working with people with intellectual disabilities, and experience in after-school programs. You should also have good knowledge of autism. It is meritorious if you have education or experience working with alternative and augmentative communication, for example sign language such as AKK (TAKK), PECS, have knowledge and/or experience working with applied behavior analysis (ABA), and have knowledge and/or experience working with clarifying pedagogy. We are looking for you who wants to and can build relationships with students, believes that every student can reach their full potential, and wants to work to promote their independence. You are professional, have good judgment, and can set boundaries. You are empathetic and use a low-affective approach with students. The work requires that you have patience and can adapt your communication and approach based on the situation. You are secure, trustworthy, and understand the importance of being a good adult role model. You can work independently and take initiative. You are good at collaborating with colleagues. In your interactions with students and parents, you are clear and responsive to students' needs. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
