Become Our New Unit Manager for LSS Services - Children, Youth, and Adults Division in Flen!

Description:

WE WANT SWEDEN'S HAPPIEST RESIDENTS. ARE YOU WITH US? In Flen Municipality, we are committed to building something sustainable. A community where people thrive, grow, and stay. Our new and bold vision, Flen – Sweden's Happiest Municipality, is more than just words. It is a direction we have chosen together and a reminder of who we serve. In every meeting with a resident, in every decision we make, in every day we shape – we should think with our hearts. And it starts with us. We are now seeking a unit manager for the Children, Youth, and Adults division. THIS IS WHAT YOUR WORK WILL INVOLVE As a unit manager with us, you will have an important role leading and developing services for people with disabilities. You will be part of our management team and work together with other managers to drive operations forward. Your assignment involves responsibility for two group homes, short-term residential services, and short-term supervision for youth over 12 years old. In 2026, the short-term residential service will move to new premises, and the group homes are planned for new construction. You are responsible for staff and the work environment in your operations. This means you develop and build strong teams, ensure that the right skills are in place, and establish clear procedures and working methods. You are responsible for scheduling, recruitment, training, and support for staff, as well as collaboration with other units and authorities. A significant part of your work involves ensuring quality and developing the services. You monitor and analyze how the operations function, stay informed about external developments, and ensure that granted support decisions are implemented with good quality in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. You also have budget responsibility and manage compensation and appropriations to ensure stable finances. In the management team, you work closely together and cover for each other during absences. The group is characterized by unity, drive, and care, and you work from shared offices for unit managers and staff. You will have support from a coordinator, team leaders/group leaders, an educational support specialist, and a management assistant. FOR THIS ROLE, WE REQUIRE THAT YOU: Have a degree in social work, behavioral science, or equivalent education/work experience that we as an employer deem equivalent. Have several years of experience in a supervisory position and enjoy the role of a leader. Have worked with people entitled to support according to LSS (Act concerning Support and Service to Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) and/or social psychiatry. Have experience working with budgets and finances. Master the Swedish language well and have good communication skills both spoken and written. Have good computer skills. Have a valid Category B driver's license for manual transmission vehicles. WE VALUE HIGHLY: Experience leading change and development projects. Experience working in a politically governed organization. Experience in leadership within care and social services. Knowledge of and experience working with IBIC (Individual Needs in Focus). YOUR PERSONAL QUALITIES We believe you are someone who enjoys challenges and is curious about developing both yourself and the organization. You are creative, structured, and find it easy to prioritize your tasks. You have the courage to make decisions and a genuine interest in leading others in social work. You are a good role model for your staff and have a positive approach. You share the municipality's values and can guide and support your staff in daily work with colleagues and service users. You feel confident in your role as a manager and lead with self-assurance. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. WHY WORK WITH US? In Flen Municipality, we want to give you good conditions to thrive both at and outside of work. We offer, among other things, flexible holiday arrangements, wellness benefits, and reimbursement for patient fees up to the high-cost threshold – and there are more benefits than that. Many of our workplaces also have good commuting options. You can read more about what it is like to work with us on the municipality's website: http://flen.se. READY TO APPLY? We recruit based on competence and do not read personal letters. Apply by attaching your CV, any certificates, and answering the selection questions. As an applicant, you are responsible for documenting your competence clearly in your answers to the questions, as these form the basis for our assessment. Be careful to answer thoroughly and avoid referring to your CV. Please attach diplomas and other certificates with your application. At the interview, you must present valid identification, such as a passport or national ID card. A driver's license together with a certificate of identity (downloaded via the Swedish Tax Agency) also works. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must instead demonstrate that you have valid work authorization or that you are exempt from the requirement. About the position: Scope: Full-time, permanent (probation may apply). Working hours: Flexible working hours based on trust. Working hours are flexible and may vary depending on operational needs. Start date: By agreement. Salary: Individual salary determination. Application deadline: 2026-07-12. Prior to any employment: When hiring staff in managerial positions, operationally critical roles, services for children, or when working in the homes of elderly people and adults with disabilities, the employer may request an extract from the suspicion and conviction register. Trade union representatives can be reached via Contact Center, 0157-43 00 00. NOTE! If you have protected personal information, you should not submit your application through our system. Please visit the municipality's website or contact the Contact Center for instructions. Warm welcome to Flen!
