Social Welfare Case Worker

Job Description Handling of services under the Social Services Act for elderly and persons with disabilities (primarily for the elderly). The social welfare case workers work in teams of 4-5 case handlers and the consultant will primarily be a member of one of the teams, but must be prepared to take assignments from other teams as needed. The consultant reports to the Assistant Department Manager for Social Services. Scope: 100%, Start date: June 1, 2026, End date: August 31, 2026 (possible extension until November 30, 2026) Mandatory Requirements Must hold a degree in Social Work. Experience with social welfare case handling under the Social Services Act for the elderly. Must be able to independently handle cases under the Social Services Act (SoL). Must be able to receive applications, investigate, make decisions on services, and follow up on decided services. Must be able to handle all types of cases, including complex cases. Must quickly be able to familiarize oneself with and work in activity management systems. Must quickly be able to learn and apply local procedures. Desirable Requirements Experience working in the Lifecare Case Handler management system. Experience with social welfare case handling under the Social Services Act for persons with disabilities.
