Your Workplace The Laboratory Medicine Värmland operational area encompasses four specialties: clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, clinical pathology, and transfusion medicine. The operational area's mission is to offer blood draws, blood operations, preparation and analysis of samples, and produce quality-assured analytical results, diagnoses, and diagnostic support with high service quality. Transfusion Medicine Karlstad has approximately 35 employees and is physically divided between two locations, GeBlod at Karolinen and the Blood Bank at Central Hospital. Your Responsibilities At GeBlod, we receive blood, plasma, and platelet donors. Here we also prepare blood components and platelets for patients, and produce plasma for pharmaceuticals. Work takes place primarily during daytime, with some recurring evening shifts each week. The work group consists of both nurses and biomedical analysts. At the Blood Bank at Central Hospital, we operate 24/7 and only biomedical analysts work there. A number of employees rotate between GeBlod and the Blood Bank at Central Hospital. Analyses performed at Central Hospital Karlstad include blood typing, antibody screening, and pre-testing of blood components for planned and emergency transfusions. Reservation and release of blood components and tissues to patients are performed, as well as advanced blood group serological investigations. Your Knowledge and Competencies We are looking for a licensed biomedical analyst with courses in laboratory medicine. Experience with independent work in transfusion medicine is a merit. Great importance is placed on personal qualities such as teamwork ability, focus on quality, and flexibility. You are organized and always have good interactions with customers and colleagues. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form. Due to the holiday period, the availability of contact persons may be limited.
