Midwife - Maternal Health Care

Description:

Maternal Health Care in southern Kalmar County offers a permanent position as a midwife based at the family center in Torsås. Your mission as a midwife is to contribute to good sexual and reproductive health through promotional and preventive measures and risk identification, and to minimize risks and illness for women and children during pregnancy, childbirth, and infancy. Maternal Health Care services include pregnancy monitoring, contraceptive counseling, gynecological screening, and youth activities. At the clinic, you also conduct youth clinic work where you meet young people and young adults between 13-23 years old. You provide advice and support on matters including sexuality, contraception, and STI testing. Here at Maternal Health Care, we mentor midwifery students and medical students. In your role as a midwife with us, you work independently in continuous professional development, meeting many different types of people. The rewarding aspect of our work is that you follow expecting parents over an extended period, supporting them through pregnancy and into parenthood. With us, you become part of the continuous development work that we consider an integral part of our daily operations. We have regular training days, maternal health care days, and various process groups that you can participate in to develop and improve our work. This is a permanent position with a 75% employment rate, working daytime hours Monday-Friday. Start in fall 2026 or earlier by agreement. Selection and interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the final application deadline. About You We are looking for someone who wants to work in maternal health care! You are a licensed midwife with prescribing rights. We would consider it an advantage if you have previously worked in maternal health care. Similarly, if you have several years of experience in other departments at a women's clinic. As a midwife, you are confident in your profession and accustomed to making and standing by your own decisions. You discuss and resolve issues with colleagues as a team. You need to be independent in your work while also being able to collaborate with multiple professional categories at the family center, such as nursing assistants, social workers, and educators. We see friendly and empathetic communication as one of your important qualities. You are flexible in your approach and view change and development work as a given. We consider it advantageous if you have training in sexology, motivational interviewing, and have worked with the Cosmic and Obstetrix computer systems. It is beneficial if you speak languages other than Swedish, as we meet people of different nationalities. Since you will be working at both clinics, we require that you have a driver's license. You operate based on the region's values by acting openly, actively, and professionally. For us, work satisfaction and well-being are important. We place great emphasis on personal suitability, as you and your future colleagues are important as a team.
