As department manager for streets, parks and harbors, you are responsible for the units Street/Park and Harbors. Street/Park is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all public spaces within the municipality, including streets, pedestrian and bicycle paths, parks/green areas, playgrounds and recreational areas in the municipality's urban centers. The unit handles matters concerning public space permits, excavation permits, parking permits, traffic regulations, traffic safety, parking regulation, parking enforcement and more. The department's mission also includes contributing expertise in the urban development process from idea to project completion. The department carries out installation work in the form of new construction and renovation of streets, green areas and water/sewage lines. The harbor operations encompass the operation and maintenance of the municipality's 7 harbors where commercial fishermen, recreational boats, motorhomes, businesses, and boat clubs are to be met with good service and accessibility. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES In this role, you have overall responsibility for leading and developing the street, park and harbor operations based on politically determined goals and governing documents for the operational area. You report to the Technical Manager and are part of the operational area's management group. Collaboration with other departments in the municipality is an important part of your work. As a department manager, you have financial, personnel and operational responsibility. You lead a team of approximately 15 employees. Street/Park also includes project management, project planning, procurement and contract management. You are responsible for planning and monitoring the operating and investment budget as well as for the implementation of municipal development projects such as the construction of infrastructure in the form of streets, water/sewage lines, parks and similar. Within the harbor area, this means you are responsible for creating favorable conditions and leading the work and employees within the harbor operations with clear goals and visions, based on made decisions. 4 harbor masters manage the daily operations during the summer season. You will have contact with various authorities in permit matters as well as contacts with the public, boat and fishing organizations. QUALIFICATIONS Requirements for education and experience • University education within your area of responsibility or other education or work experience that the employer deems equivalent. • Several years of experience in leadership with personnel and budget responsibility. • Relevant expertise within the operational area's areas of responsibility. • Class B driver's license.
