Student Instructor in Computer Science for Supplemental Instruction Leadership Role

University Library and Student Support (UB) is tasked with providing library services, learning support, and student support. Learning support includes promoting information literacy in education and offering an inspiring study environment for students. Student support encompasses assistance with academic writing, mathematics and statistics, study techniques, and information searching and reference management. Additionally, the division provides central academic advising, pedagogical support for students with permanent disabilities, and student health services. University Library and Student Support oversees a project in the Supplemental Instruction (SI) method at Mittuniversitetet. Supplemental Instruction involves trained SI leaders conducting regular study sessions for students in specific courses. These sessions focus on developing effective study techniques, improving course content understanding, and building confidence before exams. UB staff train the SI leaders, coordinate the work, and provide mentoring support to the SI leaders. We are now seeking SI leaders for computer science courses for part-time employment at UB. Responsibilities We are looking for someone who wants to train as an SI leader and prepare and conduct study sessions on campus in Sundsvall within the field of computer science. As an SI leader, you will plan and conduct approximately one session per week lasting 1–2 hours for a group of 5–15 students, report attendance, and participate in mentor meetings. The role also includes participating in development and evaluation work. Qualifications You are enrolled in one of the following programs at Mittuniversitetet: Master's in Computer Science, Computer Science 180 credits, or Master's in Industrial Economics, and you have passed all first-term courses. You are interested in pedagogy and in supporting other students in their learning. You are eager to develop your own leadership skills. You will be employed as a Student Instructor and must meet the employment requirements outlined in Mittuniversitetet's employment regulations. A person eligible for employment as a Student Instructor is someone admitted to a program at the basic or advanced level. Personal Qualities To succeed in this role, we see that you are relationship-building, take initiative, and work independently. You have strong collaboration skills, communicate attentively, and work constructively with others. Furthermore, you are organized, structured, and able to plan and prioritize your work efficiently. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. Process The employment process follows the procedures outlined in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance and proceeds in accordance with Mittuniversitetet's employment regulations. Employment and Start Date The position covers 7.5–20% of full-time from September 1, 2026, or by agreement. The assignment is determined on a term-by-term basis, but no longer than January 31, 2027. The employment may be renewed in accordance with Chapter 5, Section 12 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100).
