About CEDAR The Centre for Demographic and Ageing Research (CEDAR) has the mission to build, manage and provide access to demographic and historical databases, conduct research on population and ageing, and work to strengthen the connections between teaching, research and infrastructure at the university. CEDAR is organized into three sections; a section responsible for infrastructure and databases, a research-focused section and a support function that provides support to the other two. The unit also hosts two of the Swedish Research Council's national infrastructures, CORS and SwedPop. CEDAR employs approximately 46 staff members and 30 researchers at one of our facilities in Haparanda, Jörn or Umeå. Please visit our website: Centre for Demographic and Ageing Research (CEDAR) About the Position We are looking for an administrator with a task to work with both administrative tasks and transcription of historical sources. The employment is full-time and permanent. A six-month probationary period may apply. Start date is 2026-09-01 or by agreement. The position is based in Haparanda or Jörn. CEDAR's operational support covers two main areas: administrative support and IT operations and management. The operational support should focus on the unit's common mission and objectives and should be conducted in such a way that research and infrastructure activities can maintain high quality and achieve set operational objectives. The section consists of six employees and is led by an administrative manager. Work Tasks As an administrator, you work close to core operations in an academic environment and provide important support to the unit's staff and management. The work tasks are varied and include, among other things: supplier and customer accounts entry and transfers procurement in accordance with applicable regulations inventory and management of fixed asset registers management of time reporting, travel expenses, fees and other expenses other ongoing office administration. The position also includes work with transcription, which involves interpreting, registering and linking individual data in historical sources. The work mainly involves parish records from the 1700s, 1800s and 1900s, but other types of sources may also occur. Personal Qualities Within CEDAR's operations, teamwork and co-creation are central values. We are therefore looking for someone who has good collaboration skills and who enjoys sharing your experiences and knowledge. You are solution-oriented, take responsibility and have the ability to take own initiatives. Qualifications You have: upper secondary education or equivalent good knowledge of Excel good digital skills and ability to quickly learn new systems, such as accounting administration systems good ability to express yourself in speech and writing good communication skills ability to work in a structured, service-oriented and independent manner. Meritorious: experience of working in a university, college or other state authority experience of or knowledge of the Raindance accounting system and the Primula personnel system knowledge of and interest in history, parish records and population registration English language skills.
